TWO PHENOMENA

Spiritual hypnosis refers more specifically to two phenomena:

   1.  Regression to past lives
   2.  Regression between lives

To understand how these phenomena are related to hypnosis, I will reveal a "secret" that few people know.

THE SECRET...

As a hypnotherapist, we have many tools in our toolbox. One of the most useful tools is called "regression", or the capacity to have clients relive events from the past.

Our unconscious mind, like a recorder, records every thought, sensation, or emotion that we experience. Everything that we see, hear or feel is recorded "somewhere", and it's precisely this function of the unconscious mind that allows us to do deep and effective work with hypnosis.

For example, when we work with someone who has a problem related to a fear or other negative emotions, it is common to use regression by asking the client's unconscious to bring the client back to the "source of the problem", where it all started. And the client, when in deep hypnosis, will "revivify" or relive events related with his fear as if it was happening now.

Very interesting, you may say, but what does this have to do with past lives or life between lives?

Here's the answer. It happens sometimes that, when asked to bring the client back to the source of the problem, that the subconscious mind brings back memories that seem to correspond quite accurately to a past life.

The client relates, as if it was right now, events where he is in a different time, different place, with a different body and a different name, and even sometimes with a different gender and a different voice. He is able to answer questions about his life with often very astounding details.

And the most impressive part is that this phenomenon happens even if the client AND the hypnotist don't believe in past lives.

Yes, you read correctly. At first, many hypnotists were surprised by this phenomenon, and yet, many beginners who didn't get a proper training still are surprised nowadays. This phenomenon is independent of the belief system of the hypnotist or the client, and that's what makes it interesting to investigate.

This is the "secret" that all hypnotists who use regression as a technique know. This phenomenon usually happens at least once a month in any given hypnotist's practice.

However, most hypnotists never say anything about this on their websites, wanting to preserve their image of a general clinician, detached from any kind of spirituality. They fear they will lose clients if they would admit that their practice is somewhat linked with the beliefs about past lives. After all, we do live in a society heavily based on judeo-christian principles.

You may also be interested to learn that ALL good hypnotherapy trainings teaching regression as a tool, has a section about "what to do when clients seem to go into what seems to be a past life". It's a recognized phenomenon in the field and whether or not the hypnotist believes in it, he needs to know what to do when this will occur in his practice.
